Abigail Shry

The Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to Abigail Shry for being racist, violent, and unhinged.

From CBS News

Abigail Shry's verbal threats against public officials have been racist, violent and detailed. Her targets have included a federal judge in Washington, a Democrat in the House and the Texas Capitol. She allegedly once said she would "annihilate" the Texas government in an "armed attack" that would be more violent than the Jan. 6 insurrection.  At one point, a federal prosecutor said Shry was "unmoored" and posed a danger.

Now there's a new concern: The feds can't find her.  Shry was supposed to report to prison Tuesday [02/17/26] in Florida, but she failed to show up and has gone on the lam. A judge has issued a bench warrant for federal agents to find and arrest her.  Shry was due to begin serving a 27-month federal prison sentence in her most recent threat case. She pleaded guilty in November 2024 to a federal charge in Texas for a phone message she left in the Washington, D.C., chambers of Judge Tanya Chutkan.  The threat came hours after Chutkan was assigned to oversee President Trump's 2020 election conspiracy case in August 2023. According to the Justice Department, Shry called Chutkan a "stupid slave [epithet]" and said, "If Trump doesn't get elected in 2024, we're coming to kill you. So tread lightly."

[…]

"Judge, my greatest concern in this case is that she starts watching Fox News again, gets herself spun up, she goes out, she gets a case of beer, continues to get herself spun up," the prosecutor said, according to a transcript of the hearing.

Matthew Huttle

The Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to Matthew Huttle.

From NPR News

One of those defendants, Matthew Huttle, was recently shot and killed by law enforcement in Indiana during a traffic stop just days after receiving a pardon for his role in the Capitol riot.  In 2023, Huttle pleaded guilty to entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds on Jan. 6, and received a sentence of six months in prison.  Huttle "has an extensive criminal history that demonstrates a pattern and practice of disrespecting and disobeying the rule of law, which is consistent with his actions on January 6, 2021," prosecutors said.  In one incident, "Huttle spanked his 3-year-old son so hard that he left bruises all over the child's backside and the child's neck, and the child had such extreme pain on his backside that he could not sit properly for a week," prosecutors said. "Huttle was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment."  Prosecutors also noted repeated arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol.  Huttle's defense attorney attributed his criminal record to a history of "extreme alcohol abuse."  Even after Jan. 6, Huttle continued to rack up state charges in Indiana for driving offenses.  Less than a week after he received a pardon from Trump, Huttle was fatally shot in an altercation with a sheriff's deputy, according to Indiana State Police.

Hunter Rivera

Once again, the Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to a Republican arrested for attempting to have sex with a child.  The Committee apologizes to its readers for being tediously repetitive.  Today’s predator is Hunter Rivera.

From The Denver Gazette

Hunter Rivera, the 24-year-old chairman of the Weld County Republican Party, was one of two men arrested Thursday on suspicion of trying to buy sex from Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators who posed as minors as part of an operation targeting child predators.

[…]

The sheriff’s office said in a news release that “several dozen people” responded to investigators who posed as minors offering sexual acts for sale on local websites and online forums. Two men — one of whom was Rivera — showed up at an agreed-upon location to pay for sex but were arrested and later booked into the county jail, the office said.  Rivera, who lives in Windsor, faces four felony charges, the sheriff’s office said: soliciting a child prostitute, internet luring of a child, soliciting to arrange a minor prostitute in a cybercrime, and attempted sexual assault on a child.

[…]

Rivera has been a fixture in Republican circles in recent years, both at the state Capitol, where he worked for several years as a legislative aide until last year, and in broader party activity.  After serving on multiple local boards and chairing the Northern Colorado Young Republicans, Rivera ran unsuccessfully for Windsor Town Board in 2022, the Fort Collins Coloradan reported.  He served as an appointed member of the state GOP’s executive committee until last month, when the state party’s interim chair, Eric Grossman, removed him from the panel following delegates to the Republicans’ state assembly censuring members who had voted against filing a motion to close Colorado’s primary election to unaffiliated voters.

Troy Nehls

The Committee gives Troy Nehls the Conservative Barf Bag Award in the subcategory of “Let them eat cake.”

From The Daily Beast

MAGA Rep. Troy Nehls brushed off a question about “affordability” by bragging about his expensive July 4 feast.

“How do House Republicans make the case that you’re fighting for affordability when you go back to your districts?” reporter Pablo Manríquez of Migrant Insider asked Nehls on Tuesday. “Affordability? What’re you talking about?” the 58-year-old Texas congressman replied.  “I’m gonna go there tomorrow, well over the Fourth. I’m gonna get me a couple of big lobster tails, I’m gonna get me some nice ribeyes. I’m gonna sit in my backyard with my family, my neighbors, and we’re going to be enjoying the Fourth, celebrating 250 years,” he boasted.

Manríquez then pressed Nehls further, asking, “You think 60 percent of Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck can afford lobster tails and ribeyes and all that?”  “Maybe not,” Nehls said. “Maybe the 60 percent of Americans don’t work as hard as I do either.”

Aaron Brutger

The Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to Aaron Brutger for yet another case of conservative violence against a woman.

From The Minnesota Star Tribune

A GOP-endorsed state Senate candidate from central Minnesota was arrested in 2009 after his former fiancee told police he had slammed a car door on her legs and strangled her until she lost consciousness during an argument.  Prosecutors charged Aaron Brutger, who was 26 at the time, with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of domestic assault. Three months later, Brutger pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct as part of a plea agreement.

[…]

According to the criminal complaint filed in Stearns County District Court, deputies were sent to a residence in Eden Lake Township on a domestic assault report just before 8 a.m. Dec. 30, 2009. The complainant, who was the woman's father, told police that he contacted authorities at her request.

[…]

She said they had argued after Brutger denied her gas money, so she went to her vehicle to see how much fuel was in the tank. She said Brutger followed her, pushed her into the car and slammed the door on her legs, according to the report.

The woman said Brutger then dragged her by her jacket into the residence, the report said. She said he told her "he was going to kill her" and "she was afraid because he's pulled a gun on her in the past," according to the report.

The woman said that when she told Brutger she was going to call the police, he "stood behind her and put his arm around her throat and began squeezing." She said she "blacked out and fell to the floor on a pile of clothes."

She then called her father and told him to call 911.

Deputies photographed a red mark and scratches on the woman's neck, as well as bruising starting to form by her shin.

Ryan Upchurch

In 2022, a sixteen-year-old girl disappeared after a party in California.  Later her body was found in her SUV submerged in a lake.  Ryan Upchurch, a country rapper and YouTube personality who has publicly supported Trump for years, released a video taunting her grieving family for faking her death to raise money.  The Committee gives him the Conservative Barf Bag Award for cruelty.

From People magazine

Ryan Upchurch has been ordered to pay millions after a jury found him liable for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. In 2023, Upchurch was sued by David Robertson and Daniel Rodni, the grandfather and father, respectively, of Kiely Rodni, who died at age 16 in August 2022. Her body and vehicle were discovered weeks after she was reported missing, having disappeared from a party near Tahoe National Forest in California.  Multiple news outlets later reported that the Coroners Division of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) ruled Kiely's death was an accident. A statement from the NCSO read, "This decision is based on the pathologist's report that she drowned and that there was no other evidence to suggest that she was killed by someone else. As always, our office will keep working with the family and look at any new information about this investigation. "Per court documents viewed by PEOPLE, Robertson and Daniel filed a complaint in Tennessee claiming that Upchurch posted a YouTube video titled “ZERO proof of Kiely Rodni situation being REAL.”  The plaintiffs alleged that Upchurch stated in the now-unavailable video, “Everyone telling me I should be ashamed of myself, how dare you, that, oh, this is faked—show me that it's real. Show me proof of Kiely Rodni.” The complaint also claimed Upchurch suggested the case was a "scam" to raise money on a GoFundMe page.  Attorneys claimed Upchurch caused Robertson and Daniel "reputational injury, financial losses, and emotional distress."

On Monday, May 18[,2026], the jury ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, with the verdict determining that Upchurch owes $17.5 million in total, per court documents obtained by PEOPLE. He has been ordered to pay Daniel $6.5 million and $11 million to Robertson.

Daniel Tocci

The copy line for the Conservative Barf Bag Award, “never ever underestimate the malignance of conservatives”, underscores an advantage conservatives have: normal people consistently underestimate how horrible many conservatives are. The German people ninety years ago allowed the holocaust to continue partly because so few of them could believe their government capable of an evil as vast as The Final Solution. The CBBA project has now documented more than four hundred cases of conservatives who are profoundly wicked. Imagine the state of the soul of a person who could conceive of putting a cat in a blender and then choosing to video tape the event, remembering that the only cats who fit into blenders are kittens. Today’s award goes to Daniel Tocci. Readers of this column are reminded that conservatives dominate all three branches of the US government. The Committee hopes that more people will discover how conservatives like Tom Emmer gleefully urge ICE to “Go get ‘em, ICE.” the day before Renee Good was murdered and then vote to take the food out of the mouths of children to give more money to the likes of Jeff Bezos.

From NBC News

A man pardoned by President Donald Trump for his actions on Jan. 6 has been sentenced for possessing more than 100,000 child sexual abuse images and videos discovered in connection with his Capitol riot case. Daniel Tocci was sentenced to four years in prison by U.S. District Judge Mark G. Mastroianni of the District of Massachusetts after he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, according to a Justice Department news release Monday that made no mention of the Jan. 6 link. Tocci had been set to go to trial in the Jan. 6 case early last year, but it was dismissed after Trump granted mass clemency to roughly 1,500 defendants tied to the attack on the Capitol. Federal prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo in the child pornography case that, in addition to the child sex abuse material, Tocci's laptop "contained extremely disturbing images of violent acts, such as a cat being killed by being put in a blender, a male shooting a female in the head, a dog being beaten to death, and severed heads and limbs, as well as images and videos of bestiality.”

Kevin Etherington

Yet again, the Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to a Republican public officer.  This time the award goes to Republican Kevin Etherington.

From KOCO News, ABC, Oklahoma City

A former assistant district attorney in Oklahoma has been found guilty of possessing child pornography.  Kevin Etherington, 56, worked as the First Assistant District Attorney for Payne and Logan counties for eight years before he was arrested in 2022. In Sept. 2022, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said it received 14 cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children of images with suspected child sexual abuse material linked to Etherington. Agents later executed a search warrant at his Stillwater apartment and arrested him in Nov. 2022.  Court documents state investigators seized three SD cards, three flash drives and a laptop from Etherington’s home. The OSBI said it found 153 photos and videos of girls under 9 years old being abused in a Google Drive that belonged to Etherington.  On Thursday[03/05/26], a Payne County jury found Etherington guilty of aggravated possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Court records show the jury recommended Etherington serve a total of 20 years in prison and pay $20,000 in fines for both crimes.  Etherington was released on bond in 2023, but was taken back into custody after his conviction. He will be formally sentenced in Payne County on May 8.

From News Channel 5 Nashville

A review of Millar’s social media by NewsChannel 5 Investigates shows a fascination with a horrific mass murder in 2011 in Norway that left 77 people dead, including children at a youth camp. The man accused of brandishing a gun at a Nashville “No Kings” rally is now facing even more federal charges, including child pornography.  Elijah Millar has been hit with five new federal charges, according to an indictment from April 1:

·      Illegal firearm possession

·      Illegal firearm possession

·      Illegal firearm possession

·      Receipt of child pornography

·      Obscene depiction of a minor

Millar is accused of receiving child porn and also producing or possessing, with the intent to distribute, a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The Murfreesboro man was charged federally in June 2025 in connection with an incident at a rally in Nashville. The charge, unlawful possession of a firearm, stems from an incident involving Millar allegedly brandishing a weapon at the “No Kings” rally in downtown Nashville on June 14. Court documents show that he went to the rally dressed in all black, wearing a mask and was, according to witnesses, carrying a gun.  Witnesses reported to police officers that Millar had told the protestors that he had a gun, spat and yelled at them and brandished the gun. Metro Nashville Police officers approached the Millar, disarmed him and arrested him.

From KCRA 3 News, Sacramento, CA

A Lincoln [CA] police officer who was accused of a long-term pattern of sexual abuse involving children no longer works for the police department after new charges were filed, officials said.  Timothy Jaekel, last month, was charged with several felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts related to the abuse of two children. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has said the investigation began on June 23, when four relatives reported being sexually abused years earlier by Jaekel.  The sheriff's office said the victims reported being inappropriately touched by Jaekel when they were between the ages of 8 and 16, and in one case, he asked one of them for nude photos when she was a juvenile.  The Lincoln Police Department previously said Jaekel was placed on unpaid administrative leave when the allegations were reported in June.  On Friday, Lincoln police said Jaekel is no longer employed by the department, and it was aware of new charges filed against Jaekel, including in Placer County.  The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, also on Friday, filed two additional charges of bigamy, incest and crime against nature against Jaekel.

Stephen E. Buyer

The Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to yet another conservative swindler.  Stephen E. Buyer used his position in congress to gather insider information, which he used to commit securities fraud.  Despite being convicted of fraud, the Republican Party gathered around one of their own and spared him the consequences of his criminality.  The Committee wonders who got cuts of the fraudulently acquired money.

From The New York Times

President Trump has pardoned Stephen E. Buyer, a former Republican representative from Indiana who was convicted of insider trading in 2023.

The pardon for Mr. Buyer was endorsed by current and former Republican lawmakers, including Senators Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and former House Speaker John Boehner, according to the proclamation, which was dated June 4.

Mr. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison after being convicted on four counts of securities fraud. The authorities had filed civil and criminal charges against him for trading stock on information about two mergers that he had received from clients of the consulting firm he formed after leaving Congress in 2011, according to the complaint.

Since he returned to the White House last year, Mr. Trump has issued a wave of pardons and commutations. Dozens of pardons have been granted to people accused of white-collar crimes, giving rise to an industry of right-wing operatives hired to bring requests for clemency to the president.

Police arrested a man on Friday, June 5, 2026, following an investigation into outcries made by two sisters under the age of 10.  Louis Dean Noey, 63, of Wichita Falls, was arrested and booked into the Wichita County Jail on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years old.  As of the publication of this story, Noey remains in custody on bonds totaling $200,000.  According to a Facebook post from the Wichita Falls Police Department, in May 2026, detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Avenue M in reference to a sexual assault of a child complaint.  Court documents showed that two siblings, ages 6 and 9, made outcries alleging that Noey had touched them inappropriately.  Police said both children were forensically interviewed at Patsy's House Children's Advocacy Center and were able to provide details of the assaults. According to court documents, Noey was interviewed by detectives and admitted to sexually abusing one of the girls.

The alleged incidents occurred between 2005 and 2010 while Essert served as a teacher in Sharonville and an instructor at the Young Marines, a national youth program for children ages 8 through high school.

Essert became Bethel’s police chief in 2021. Reporting from 2023 found that he had been fired or resigned under threat of firing from three of his previous law enforcement jobs for allegedly sexually harassing a female officer, intimidating witnesses, lying, and disobeying orders. A 2020 domestic violence charge accused him of hitting a woman with his vehicle, causing minor injuries.

 NEW YORK (Reuters)

An ex-Congressional candidate from Tennessee faces up to five years in prison for plotting to burn down an upstate New York mosque and use an assault rifle against anyone who tried to stop him, according to court documents.

Robert Doggart, who made a failed bid for Congress in 2014 as an independent with highly conservative views, pleaded guilty on April 29[2015] to interstate communication of threats, according to a plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court in Knoxville, Tennessee. No date has been set for sentencing, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Knoxville said on Tuesday. Doggart was released on $30,000 bail.

At one point in March, according to the documents, Doggart told a telephone contact that "if there's a gun fight, well there's a gun fight. And I do want to come home 'cause I love my family and I want to see my kids again. But I also understand that if it's necessary to die then that's a good way."

On wire-tapped phone calls, in meetings with Federal Bureau of Investigation informants and on social media, he schemed to round up a militia to attack Islamberg, a rural hamlet that is home to a small Muslim community in Hancock, New York, about 130 miles (209 km) northwest of New York City. "Those guys (ought or have) to be killed. Their buildings need to be burnt down. If we can get in there and do that not losing a man, even the better," Doggart said during a phone call with an informant, according to court papers.

Doggart used Facebook to solicit others in the attack, saying "20 expert gunners can do a lot (of) damage," the court documents showed.

He also talked about carrying an assault rifle "with 500 rounds of ammunition, light armor piercing. A pistol with three extra magazines and a machete. And if it gets down to the machete, we will cut them to shreds," according to the criminal complaint.

Early one morning in September 2024, two teams of F.B.I. agents descended simultaneously on a pair of homes in Orange County, New York. The agents arrived to serve arrest warrants on Mout’z Soudani, 76, a local real estate investor, and Stewart Rosenwasser, 72, a prominent former judge and recently retired county prosecutor. The two were accused in a conspiracy case.

[…]

At the center of the controversy is Mr. Soudani’s 65-year-old sister, Eman. In a lawsuit filed in federal court in November 2023, she claimed that her brother raped, beat and controlled her for 45 years. Her suit, and a counterclaim by her brother, uncovered bank and phone records documenting a scheme in which Mr. Rosenwasser used his power as a high-ranking prosecutor to travel 1,800 miles outside his jurisdiction to personally ensure the arrest of Ms. Soudani — based on her brother’s claim that she had stolen half a million dollars from him — and return her to her brother’s control. In exchange, the F.B.I. says, Mr. Soudani paid the prosecutor approximately $63,000.

From The Daily Mail

MAGA fan accused of masturbating at Donald Trump's Great American State Fair in latest setback for embattled event.

A MAGA live-streamer dressed as Uncle Sam has been arrested at President Donald Trump's Great American State Fair after multiple witnesses reported him to police. Gian Rachtelli, 54, was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon and charged with lewd, indecent or obscene acts after three people independently described what they believed was a sexual act taking place during a Cirque Mechanics performance.  The arrest is the latest controversy to engulf Trump's taxpayer-funded Great American State Fair, an event already facing criticism over performer cancellations, sparse crowds and eye-watering food prices.

Police body camera footage captured the incident, although the responding officer noted in the report that it had not yet been reviewed before the report was completed.

According to the document, officers were dispatched to the National Mall at approximately 3:50pm after another law enforcement agency working the fair said witnesses had reported a man “doing inappropriate things during a performance.”  When US Park Police officers arrived behind one of the performance stages, they found Rachtelli being detained by officers. The report states officers interviewed three witnesses before determining there was probable cause to arrest him.  “He returned for the second show, and I saw him with his hand in his pants likely doing what we all thought he was doing,” one witness told police in a voluntary statement.

Silas Shelton

The Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to Silas Shelton, who is a former conservative MAGA pastor and church leader who was an outspoken critic of LGBTQ+ visibility in schools.

From The Advocate

Silas Shelton, a church pastor from Clinton County, Ohio, was sentenced to prison Monday[06/22/26] for sex crimes against a child that occurred in 2019. He was arrested in October of last year and charged with multiple felonies.

[…]

Prosecuting attorney Brian Shidaker explained to the court that Shelton, 48, took advantage of the victim due to her impressionable age, his close relationship with her family, and his leading role in the church. He’d even arranged a job for the victim, apparently in an attempt to be alone with her. “[Shelton] pulled off on a wooded back road with her and climbed on top of her,” Shidaker said. “On April 20, at the plea hearing, in this courtroom, he admitted those facts were true.”

The dark irony of Shelton committing such a heinous crime against a child is that he’d previously claimed LGBTQ+ themed books were harmful to children.  In 2023, he spoke in front of the Little Miami Local School District’s board of education, complaining about the inclusion of Alice Oseman’s bestselling young adult graphic novel Heartstopper at his 12-year-old daughter’s school book fair. Shelton claimed that exposing students to LGBTQ+ books wasn’t “a religion matter ... it’s a health risk. It’s mental health.”  “I don’t think kids should ever question their sexuality. I don’t think kids should ever explore their sexuality,” Shelton said at the board meeting. “I don’t think any of that stuff ever ought to be in our school, but [my daughter] come home asking me why certain books were in that book fair, which were pertaining to books of gay. One of them was Heartstopper, which is where a gay boy pressures a straight kid into kissing him.”  “I don’t understand why we have this kind of stuff in our libraries, in our book fairs,” added Shelton. “I’ll tell you, I got sick reading that stuff today.”

At Shelton’s sentencing earlier this week, McCoy noted that his complete lack of remorse or accountability helped to justify ordering the maximum sentence for the felonies, which included rape, sexual battery, and unlawful sexual contact with a minor.  “When you take absolutely no accountability for your actions, you demonstrate no remorse,” McCoy said. “You choose rather to blame the victim and claim that you, incredulously, claim that you were the victim of abuse at her home, a 14-year-old child.”

The Committee gives the Conservative Barf Bag Award to Kimberly Skaggs, treasurer for the New Mexico Republican Party.

From The Santa Fe New Mexican

A woman who until recently was serving as treasurer of the Republican Party of New Mexico is accused of leaving the scene of a fatal crash with a cyclist in Las Cruces.  Kimberly Skaggs, 54, was arrested Wednesday[06/24/26] in connection with the crash, which occurred two days earlier. She faces felony counts of knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal accident and tampering with evidence, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Doña Ana County Magistrate Court.

Police allege Skaggs struck 40-year-old Andrew Brown on Monday afternoon on the west side of Las Cruces while he was crossing the street on a bicycle. Brown was severely injured and died at the scene, Doña Ana County sheriff’s deputies wrote in an affidavit.

[…]

Skaggs also has been a Republican Party candidate in several state legislative races in recent years, running several competitive — but ultimately unsuccessful — campaigns.

[…]

The deputies’ affidavit indicates a witness took photos of what investigators suspect was Skaggs’ vehicle leaving the scene after the crash.  Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene on North Fairacres Road at 2:46 p.m. Monday and spoke with the witness, a deputy wrote. She told investigators she had seen a woman walking around at the scene before getting back into her vehicle and taking off north on Fairacres.  The woman provided deputies with photos she had taken of the vehicle — a black Cadillac Escalade with a “Support the Troops” license plate, deputies wrote.  Investigators noted there were skid marks from the crash stretching 208 feet down the road and that Brown’s bicycle was broken into several pieces at the scene.  Deputies said surveillance video footage from a nearby business showed a driver in a black Escalade passing by “at a high rate of speed,” and an automatic license plate-reader captured the vehicle leaving the area just after the crash.  The following evening, deputies executed a search warrant at Skaggs’ home and seized the Escalade, which displayed front-end damage and “blood splatter” consistent with the fatal crash, investigators allege. Deputies wrote the SUV was parked under a carport behind the home. Skaggs was taken into custody Wednesday at the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office in Las Cruces, and she was booked into jail shortly before 4 p.m., according to an online inmate database.
