Gina Peddy

Today’s Conservative Barf Bag Award goes to Gina Petty.

From NBC News:

SOUTHLAKE, Texas — A top administrator with the Carroll Independent School District in Southlake advised teachers last week that if they have a book about the Holocaust in their classroom, they should also offer students access to a book from an “opposing” perspective, according to an audio recording obtained by NBC News.

Gina Peddy, the Carroll school district’s executive director of curriculum and instruction, made the comment Friday afternoon during a training session on which books teachers can have in classroom libraries. The training came four days after the Carroll school board, responding to a parent’s complaint, voted to reprimand a fourth grade teacher who had kept an anti-racism book in her classroom.

A Carroll staff member secretly recorded the Friday training and shared the audio with NBC News.

“Just try to remember the concepts of [House Bill] 3979,” Peddy said in the recording, referring to a new Texas law that requires teachers to present multiple perspectives when discussing “widely debated and currently controversial” issues. “And make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust,” Peddy continued, “that you have one that has an opposing, that has other perspectives.”

“How do you oppose the Holocaust?” one teacher said in response.

“Believe me,” Peddy said. “That’s come up.”

It may seem harsh to give the award to Peddy when clearly she is a mouthpiece for other barf bags.  She was just following orders, but we have heard that excuse before, haven’t we?

Never ever underestimate the malignance of conservatives.

Couy Griffin

04/18/22

Couy Griffin

Today’s Conservative Barf Bag Award goes to Couy Griffin, founder of Cowboys For Trump. As one of the rioters on January 6, he climbed over three walls, requiring assistance from others, and then argued unsuccessfully that he didn’t know that he was entering a restricted zone. He had asked for a bench trial, rather than a jury trial, before a judge appointed by the Kumquat Caligula. He was found guilty. Griffin said he would never incite violence — unless perhaps the U.S. Constitution were under attack, a statement unreconcilable with the crimes he committed on January 6. Rather than comply with covid requirements to wear a mask, he elected to not have post-divorce visitations with his son. This from a family-values conservative. Griffin faced calls to resign from his Otero County Commissioner's seat in New Mexico after he said in a video, "the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat."

On a Facebook video, he sharply criticizes those who support performances at football games of the "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" — traditionally known as the Black national anthem — as a gesture of solidarity against racial injustice. "They want to destroy our country. They want to talk about playing a Black national anthem before football games? I got a better idea, why don't you go back to Africa and form your little football teams over in Africa and you can play on an old beat-out dirt lot and you can play your Black national anthem there. How about that?" he said. "This is America, we play the national anthem in America today." These quotes were copied from the El Paso Times.

So, yeah, another conservative barf bag.

Whoever This Butthead Is

Today's Conservative Barf Bag Award goes to this participant in legitimate political discourse. The great virtue of conservatives is loyalty. However, uncoupled from integrity, intelligence, and compassion, loyalty ossifies the mind, rendering it incapable of comprehending new information, narrowing its imagination of possibilities, and disabling critical thought which would otherwise protect it from manipulation by fools and rogues. Loyalty, mixed with fear and ignorance, produces contemporary conservatism.

Never ever underestimate the malignance of conservatives.

Terri Lynn Weaver

04/16/22

Terri Lynn Weaver

Today's Republican Barf Bag Award goes to Tennessee State House Terri Lynn Weaver.

From Wikipedia:

Weaver supported a Tennessee law that allows prosecutors to charge women with criminal assault if they use narcotics during pregnancy and the fetus or newborn is found "addicted to or harmed by the drug". The bill passed and Governor Haslam signed it into law. In 2016, the Legislature refused to renew it.

On September 13, 2016, Weaver was one of just two House Representatives who was opposed to the expulsion of fellow lawmaker Jeremy Durham over allegations of sexual harassment, campaign finance violations, and tax evasion.

In February 2017, Weaver introduced a bill that would classify children born through artificial insemination as illegitimate, even if both parents are married and consent to the insemination.

Weaver defended the bill in a subsequent Facebook post, claiming it was intended only to repeal a statute that the state Attorney General had deemed unconstitutional. However, in reviewing Weaver's argument, Snopes concluded that it rests on a "fairly significant misreading" of the Attorney General's views and existing Tennessee law. The bill did not pass.

Weaver traveled to Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021, to protest the results of the Electoral College. She attended the event that led to the 2021 storming of the US Capitol. She said that she was "in the thick of it" but "there wasn't any violence going on here." She did not state whether or not she had entered the Capitol. She said that members of Antifa stormed the U.S. Capitol. The FBI stated there is no evidence Antifa was involved in the attacks. Later that night she said it had been an "epic and historic day." Weaver also referred to those who stormed the Capitol as "patriots".

Hershel Walker

04/03/22

Herschel Walker

Today's conservative barf bag award goes to Hershel Walker, once a running back for Dallas and now running for the senate seat in Georgia. Walker married his college sweetheart, Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, in 1983. They have a son named Christian. After 19 years of marriage, they divorced in 2002. In filing for divorce the year before, Grossman accused Walker of "physically abusive and extremely threatening behavior." After the divorce, she told the media that, during their marriage, Walker pointed a pistol at her head and said: "I'm going to blow your fucking brains out." She also said he had used knives to threaten her. Once he held a razor to her throat in bed and said repeatedly that he was going to kill her. In 2005, a restraining order was imposed on Walker regarding Grossman, after Grossman's sister stated in an affidavit that Walker told her "unequivocally that he was going to shoot my sister Cindy and her [new] boyfriend in the head."

Walker has repeatedly claimed that he graduated from the University of Georgia in the top 1% of his class. Not true. But what made him a shoo-in for the award is that he is endorsed for the senate by Kumquat Caligula.

Dennis Hastert

April 9, 2022

Dennis Hastert

Today's Conservative Barf Bag Award goes to Dennis Hastert. From Wikipedia: John Dennis Hastert is an American former politician and convicted felon who represented Illinois's 14th congressional district from 1987 to 2007. He was the longest-serving Republican Speaker of the House in history.

From 1965 to 1981, Hastert was a high school teacher and coach at Yorkville High School in Yorkville, Illinois. He was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1986. Hastert rose through the Republican ranks in the House, becoming chief deputy whip in 1995 and Speaker in 1999.

On May 28, 2015, Hastert was indicted on federal charges of structuring bank withdrawals to evade bank reporting requirements and making false statements to federal investigators. Federal prosecutors said that the funds withdrawn by Hastert were used as hush money to conceal his past sexual misconduct. In October 2015, Hastert entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors. Under the agreement, Hastert pleaded guilty to the structuring charge, a felony. In court submissions filed in April 2016, federal prosecutors alleged that Hastert had molested at least four boys as young as 14 years of age during his time as a high school wrestling coach. At a sentencing hearing, Hastert admitted that he had sexually abused boys whom he had coached. Referring to Hastert as a "serial child molester", a federal judge imposed a sentence of 15 months in prison, two years' supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. Hastert was imprisoned in 2016 and was released 13 months later. He became the highest-ranking elected official in U.S. history to serve a prison sentence.

So far.

Never ever underestimate the malignance of conservatives.

Doug McLeod

April 7, 2022

Doug Mcleod

Today's recipient of the conservative Barf Bag Award goes to Rep. Doug McLeod (R) of Mississippi, where he serves in the state house.

From Wikipedia:

On May 18, 2019, McLeod was arrested for allegedly punching his wife in the face because it was claimed, she did not undress quickly enough before they were able to have sex. According to a report from sheriff's deputies, McLeod bloodied her nose and they found blood on their bed and bedroom floor. When they arrived he appeared intoxicated, was stumbling and was holding an alcoholic drink. They wrote, "McLeod had slurred speech and walked slow in a zigzag pattern," and he appeared so inebriated he had to grab a handrail to maintain his balance. After arriving they saw a pair of frightened women. McLeod's wife eventually came outside after deputies assured her they would keep her away from her husband. A deputy indicated McLeod's wife was shaking and upset, reporting that she said her husband was drunk and "just snapped," as she said he often does when under the influence of alcohol. Another woman who was present reported that McLeod's wife came running to her room, with her face bloodied. The woman shut the door with McLeod's wife inside and she said he commenced banging on the door, telling the women to open it. The other woman reported that McLeod said if she didn't open the door, he'd "kill her dog."

McLeod and his wife issued a joint statement thanking friends and family for their "prayers and support." In the end, McLeod never resigned or readdressed the situation, even after Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn, a Republican, called on McLeod to resign if the alleged incident is factual.

Jon Matthews

April 6, 2022

Jon Matthews

Today's winner of the conservative Republican Barf Bag Award goes to former radio talk show host Jon Matthews who was ordered to spend three years in prison after a Fort Bend County judge this morning revoked his probation.

From the news:

Matthews, 61, left the courtroom of state District Judge Brady Elliott after agreeing to a three-year sentence on a charge of indecency with a child. The conservative talk-show host resigned from his position on KSEV-AM (700), where he sat behind the microphone 6-9 a.m. each weekday. According to the police report of the incident, the girl, who was a neighbor, arrived at Matthews' house to play with his puppy. Matthews answered the door in his underwear, and the girl told investigators Matthews sat on the floor and that his genitals were exposed.

Court documents state Matthews then left the room to put on a pair of shorts.

"Upon his return to the living room, the defendant pulled his shorts and underwear down and exposed his genitals to Sara Post (pseudonym), then he said 'whoops.' "

Sean Parnell

Sean Parnell

Today's conservative Republican Barf Bag Award goes to Sean Parnell, a right-wing Pennsylvania activist and former Army Ranger who earned Trump’s endorsement in his state’s 2022 Senate primary four months ago. In his custody trial, which is ongoing, Parnell’s ex-wife testified that he once strangled her and that he has hit their children. In 2019, meanwhile, Parnell made an appearance on a Fox Nation talk show in which he blamed feminism for creating “women tyrants” and asserted that “men don’t want to put up with the BS of high-maintenance narcissistic women.”

So, yeah, another conservative barf bag.

Lisa McClain

04/04/22

Lisa McClain

Readers have recommended that Michigan Representative Lisa McClain be awarded the Conservative Republican barf bag of the day and the Committee agrees. She qualified for the recognition on April 2, 2022, when she asserted at a Save America rally that the Kumquat Caligula "caught" Osama bin Laden. She also claimed that KC had won the election of 2020 and that the US was not involved in any war during his administration.

The Committee finds it curious that she would speak at a Save America rally and vote against the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

She also claims to be Roman Catholic even though the Bible says, "You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice, nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his lawsuit.

Today's Republican barf bag award goes to John Hiatt of Bangor, ME. Hiatt won the Republican primary for the District 9 seat in the Maine State Senate on July 14, 2020. He withdrew before the general election on November 3, 2020.

Hiatt has been charged with one count each of: possession of child pornography and aggravated invasion of computer privacy, both Class C crimes; stalking, a Class D crime; theft by unauthorized taking and violating a bail condition, both Class E crimes; and two counts of harassment, a Class D crime.

Boyd and Stephanie Householder

March 31, 2022

Boyd and Stephanie Householder

Today's conservative barf bag award goes to Boyd and Stephanie Householder. They created in Humanville, MO, a conservative Christian boarding school, The Circle of Hope Ranch, a school that Boyd claimed could reform rebellious teenage girls. Extraordinary abuse ensued. After years of inaction despite numerous complaints, Missouri stepped in.

From Court records:

Boyd Householder, 71, faces 79 felony counts and one misdemeanor, including charges for child molestation, sodomy, sexual contact with a student and neglect of a child. Stephanie Householder, 55, faces 22 felony charges for abuse or neglect of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incidents occurred from 2017 to 2020. Charging documents allege that Boyd slammed two girls’ heads against a wall, kept another girl in a room with no light or sound for “an extended period of time on multiple occasions,” poured hot sauce into a girl’s mouth and used duct tape and socks to prevent a girl from using her hands for “several days.” "At times," the lawsuit states, "the parents would kiss as they switched positions to continue beating the children. They appeared to get joy from the beatings. If the parents had been arguing, the beatings would calm them down and they would become loving toward each other."

Ed Gray

Ed Gray

Today's award for being a conservative Republican barf bag goes to Ed Gray, former Gulf Breeze Mayor in Florida. He was arrested last year on charges related to secretly recording teenage boys undressing at his home and tracking their movements in some cases. On Gray's cellphone, investigators found GPS coordinates that indicated Gray had installed GPS tracking devices on victims' cars no fewer than six times.

Gray pleaded no contest July 6, 2021, to eleven charges in the case, including eight counts of video voyeurism, one count of illegal interception of communications, one count of illegally installing a tracking device and one count of stalking.

Chris Simcox

March 29, 2022

Chris Simcox

Today's award for conservative Republican barf bag goes to Chris Simcox, briefly a Republican candidate for one Arizona senate seat. The story is dated, 2016, but conservative malignance is timeless. His first appearance in the news was in 2004 when he formed The Minuteman Project intended to take vigilante action against people crossing the southern border. The former Border Operations Manager of The Minuteman Project, Shawna Forde, was convicted of double murder after leaving it to form a splinter group. That's not on Simcox, but it does speak to the nature of the group he founded. Only the best people, the Committee guesses.

The other organization Simcox headed, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, was co-founded by J. T. Ready, a neo-Nazi who killed four before taking his own life. Too bad he didn't do it in reverse order. That's also not on Simcox, but birds of a feather flock together.

On April 16, 2010, Simcox's third wife was granted an order of protection after she alleged that he "brandished a gun and threatened to shoot her, their children and any police officers who tried to protect them."

On June 19, 2013, Simcox was arrested by the Phoenix Police Department on multiple counts related to child molestation and sexual conduct with a minor. The arrest took place in Phoenix, Arizona and involved three girls under the age of 10 years, one of which was his own daughter. He was charged with two counts of child molestation, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, and one of the attempted molestations of a child. Simcox rejected a plea deal on November 21, 2014, maintaining his innocence. His trial was set for March 2, 2015, and Simcox sought to represent himself. But he failed to appear in court on his trial date, citing a medical condition. A new trial was set for April 4, 2016. He had planned to act as his own attorney and intended to cross examine his accusers, but on March 22, he waived his rights to question his accusers and allowed his attorney to question them. On June 8, he was found guilty of molesting a five-year-old girl. On July 11, Chris Simcox was sentenced to 19.5 years in prison.

So, yeah. Another conservative barf bag.

Today's conservative barf bag award goes to Ted Cruz. He slammed a book by Professor Ibrim X. Kindi, Antiracist Baby, while grilling Supreme Court Candidate Jackson. The book immediately jumped on Friday to Amazon's #1 bestseller of books for children.

Thank you, Cancun Cruz.

Jeff Fortenberry

March 25, 2022

 Jeff Fortenberry

Today's conservative barf bag award goes to Republican Representative Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska.

He was found guilty on Thursday of concealing information and making false statements to federal authorities in regard to an investigation looking into illegal campaign contributions in his 2016 reelection campaign, the US Attorney’s Office of the Central District of California said.

 From CNN:

Fortenberry, 61, was charged last October with three felony counts, including one count of scheming to falsify and conceal material facts and two counts of making false statements to federal investigators.

“After learning of illegal contributions to his campaign, the congressman repeatedly chose to conceal the violations of federal law to protect his job, his reputation and his close associates,” US Attorney Tracy L. Wilkison said in a statement. “The lies in this case threatened the integrity of the American electoral system and were designed to prevent investigators from learning the true source of campaign funds.”

The Committee posts these awards because it is easy to miss what a parade of monsters and goofballs conservatives are until you start building the list.  No doubt, he was supportive of voter suppression bills because he was concerned about the integrity of US elections.

Evan Neumann

March 24, 2022

 Evan Neumann

Today's conservative barf bag is Evan Neumann.  He is on the FBI's most wanted list for assaulting police officers on January 6.  He deployed the standard conservative response, denial, despite the video evidence that he did.  He has chosen to go home to Belarus, where he will discover what real tyranny looks like.

Wendy Rogers

March 20, 2022

 Wendy Rogers

Today's Conservative Barf Bag Award goes to Senator Wendy Rogers.

She fawned over Nick Fuentes, the leader of a white nationalist movement , and told his followers that she fantasizes about hanging her perceived enemies from gallows.

“I’ve said we need to build more gallows. If we try some of these high-level criminals, convict them and use a newly built set of gallows, it’ll make an example of these traitors who have betrayed our country,” Sen. Wendy Rogers, R-Flagstaff, said Feb. 25 in her speech to the white nationalist America First Political Action Conference in Florida.

Rogers told the white nationalists who were assembled in the ballroom at the Orlando World Center Marriott that they were “patriots.”

AFPAC opened with Fuentes soliciting a round of applause from the crowd for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The white nationalists chanted in response, “Putin! Putin! Putin!”

In his closing speech, Fuentes said “the United States is the evil empire in the world.”

“Now, they’re going and saying, “‘Vladimir Putin is Adolf Hitler,’ as if that isn’t a good thing,” he said, before chuckling a rehearsed nervous laugh and adding, “Oops, I shouldn’t have said that.”

Demonstrating an astonishing ability to keep mutually exclusive ideas functioning in one skull, Rogers went on to say “Now, they deplatform and debank people like Nick Fuentes, and even President (Donald) Trump,” she said. “This is like the USSR, but worse.”

Joanna Miller and Peter Navarro

03/18/22

 Joanna Miller and Peter Navarro

A twofer award for the conservative of the day goes to Joanna Miller and Peter Navarro.

 From Heather Cox Richardson:

Today’s other big news came from The Guardian’s Hugo Lowell: the report alleging that Trump lost the 2020 election because of Dominion Voting Systems—a report that Trump used to justify his attempt to overturn the election, including a plan to assume emergency powers—was not written by a volunteer lawyer after the election, as previously understood. In fact, it was written by a senior White House aide, Joanna Miller, who worked for key Trump advisor Peter Navarro. Navarro incorporated the Miller report into one of his own, which he and aides had begun to write two weeks before the election even happened.

That is, it was the White House itself that invented the “report” that the election was stolen, even before the election took place, and then used that report to justify the Big Lie that 19 state legislatures have relied on to restrict voting.
